Online Courses From Ed2go®

Ed2go® courses are a great way to learn new skills or polish existing skills. The ed2go® network consists of more than two thousand colleges, universities, and other organizations offering hundreds of online courses spanning many disciplines. The expert instructors facilitate online discussions among students, give feedback, and provide practical information that can be used immediately. I've taken several of these courses, among them Grammar Refresher, Research for Writers, and Editing, and they are well worth the modest cost.

Students take the courses from their home or office at the times convenient to them. A new session of each course starts monthly. Courses run for six weeks and are comprised of 12 lessons, representing 24 hours of instruction. Students can ask questions and give or receive advice at any time during the course. Upon successful completion, a certificate of completion can be downloaded.

For more information, visit ed2go.com, or check the website of a particular college to find out whether it offers ed2go® courses, usually listed with the continuing education offerings.

Training for Speechwriters and Speakers

I became a stronger speechwriter after attending training by Joan Detz, who business leaders throughout the world call upon for speechwriting seminars and speaker coaching services. I participated in three excellent workshops: The Basics of Writing and Giving a Speech, Advanced Speechwriting, and The Master Class in Speechwriting. I highly recommend training by John Detz.

Joan is also the author of three invaluable books for speakers and speechwriters: How to Write and Give a Speech, Can You Say a Few Words?, and It's Not What You Say, It's How You Say It, all three of which are revised regularly. Learn more about Joan and her services at www.joandetz.com.

Just for fun!

One of my joys is reading. A few years ago, I discovered audiobooks as a remedy for not having enough hours in my busy life to read. My best source these days for both audiobooks for my iPhone and eBooks for my tablet is New Hampshire Downloadable books, where I can borrow three books at a time free of charge. If I can download books without the help of my more tech-savvy husband, anybody can! If you live in New Hampshire and your public library is a member of the network (through the New Hampshire State Library), you can check out and borrow audiobooks and eBooks free, selecting from thousands of titles across a broad spectrum of genres. And you never even have to leave the house! If you are interested, please visit nh.lib.overdrive.com.
